RESORT & SPA DESIGN IN THE TROPICS
-One Latitude – 3 terrains- 3 climatic zones
Introduction
In most Asian countries where international tourism is encouraged, there is a large scope for designing tourist infrastructure like Resorts and Spas. Western architects are given lucrative design assignments in upcoming countries like Cambodia, Vietnam, etc. and most western Architects have less knowledge of climatic conditions, locally available materials, sustainable building skills and technology with which to design such projects.
Programme is divided into three phases in three destinations.
BANGALORE - SAKLESHPUR - MANGALORE

A bustling Metropolis with a population of over 4 million, the IT capital of India affectionately called "the Silicon Valley of India" due to its high concentration of IT industry, salubrious climate and high human intellect potential. Here they will be given an insight into indigenous building techniques with hands on workshop which would culminate in a "Design & Build" assignment with inputs from Architects and skilled personnel. Mangalore is demographically diverse with hot humid climate. It is the largest city in the Coastal and Malnad regions of Karnataka.
